Frank Ralph Bassolino

Frank Ralph Bassolino, 84, formerly of Westbury, NY, and Southampton, NY, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Friday March 22, 2019 at the Embrace Hospice House of the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born on August 6, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Ralph & Jean (Mastromarino) Bassolino.

Along with his parents, Frank is reunited in death with his beloved grandson, Ryan.

Frank was an outgoing man who was a true friend. In his younger years, he enjoyed softball and sports. While in New York, Frank was proud to be a member of the East Meadow Volunteer Fire Department, a committee person for the Republican Party in Nassau County and was as a Deputy Town Clerk for the town of Hempstead for over 20 years. In his free time, Frank loved to play golf and enjoyed volunteering at the US Open in Southampton, New York. He could never turn down a conversation regarding politics and always had a lucky hand at poker. Frank loved the peace he found on the beach and spent many summers with his family playing in the waves at the Malibu Beach Club on Long Island. Above all else, Frank loved his family.

Left to cherish Frank’s memory are his adoring wife of 61 years, Patricia (Varone) Bassolino of Surfside Beach, SC; their children, Darren Bassolino and his wife, Catherine Reade of Littleton, CO, Doreen Ceglia and her husband, Paul of Quogue, NY, Francis Bassolino and his wife, Shan of Shanghai, China, & Janine Williams and her husband, Thomas of Westbury, NY; grandchildren, Emmett, Erin, Thomas, Caitlin, Michael, Connor, Nicole, Patrick & Daniel; brother, Robert Bassolino and his wife, Joan; devoted sister-in-law Deborah Brancato (Varone) and her husband, Joseph; as well as many nieces and nephews; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors both locally and in New York.

A Funeral Mass in Celebration of Frank’s life will be held on Tuesday March 26, 2019 at 2:00PM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 573 Cypress Ave. Garden City, SC 29576. The family will receive friends on Monday March 25, 2019 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 from 2:00PM until 5:00PM.

A second Celebration of Frank’s life will be held in Westbury, New York in the summer of 2019. Those details will be announced when finalized.
