Evans Jerome “Rome” Snipes, Jr, 38, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 6, 2019 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on March 17, 1980 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Rome proudly served his country as a decorated boatswain man in the United States Coast Guard. Upon his honorable discharge, Rome went on to serve his community; this time as a highly respected police officer both in Conway & Myrtle Beach. In his free time, Rome loved to be in, on or near the water in any capacity. A generous man with a heart of gold and smile that could light up a room, Rome will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of getting to know him.
Left to cherish Rome’s memory are his adoring mother, Nell G. Snipes and her fiancée, Bill of Murrells Inlet; his beloved dogs, Duke, Gracie, Peaches, Maggi, & Rylee; as well as many aunts & uncles; cousins; & many supportive friends and neighbors.
Rome is reunited in death with his father, Evans Jerome Snipes, Sr.; his infant brother, Matthew Snipes; maternal grandparents, Mac & Maribel Goldfinch; paternal grandparents, Evans & Melvina Snipes; his cousin, Richard B. Maxwell, IV; uncle, William M. Goldfinch, III; as well as Rome’s ‘other mother,’ Jan James.
A Celebration of Rome’s life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach 2901 Fantasy Way, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579 on Tuesday February 12, 2019 at 11:00AM.
