Egbert “Walt” Worth Walters, 89, passed away peacefully with his family beside him on Wednesday September 25, 2019 at Inlet Oaks in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born in Fairmont, NC to the late Worth and Johnsie (Mitchell) Walters.
Along with his parents, Egbert is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years Treva P. Walters.
Egbert proudly served 20 ½ years in the US Air Force and retired from Myrtle Beach AFB as a Staff Sergeant. He was a local businessman and enjoyed vacations, reading, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Egbert was a member of the First Baptist Church Myrtle Beach and a 33rd Degree York Rite Mason. He will lovingly be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Left to cherish and honor Egbert’s memory are his children, daughter Debbie Barnes (Larry) of Washington, NC, son Michael Walters (Elizabeth) of Summerville, SC, daughter Linda Todd (Odell) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and daughter Sherri Thompkins (Carlton) of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Angela Johnson (Taz) of Murrells Inlet, SC, Ben Todd of Murrells Inlet, April Thompkins of Milwaukee, WI, Grant Walters of Summerville, SC and Jacob Thompkins of Myrtle Beach, SC; and great grandchildren Alara Johnson and Xander Johnson.
A funeral service for Egbert will be held on Saturday September 28, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will greet friends for visitation prior to the service from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Graveside service with military honors will take place at Floyd Memorial Cemetery in Fairmont, NC at 2:30 PM.
