Douglas Bryant Collins

Douglas Bryant Collins, 88 of Myrtle Beach, SC departed this life on July 10th, 2019 at his residence. He was born October 10th, 1930 in Charlotte, NC son of the late John and Lela Collins.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ross Collins; and two daughters, Martha Hibbitts and Susan Kerr.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ann S. Collins of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughters, Jane Jones of Louisville, KY and Nancy Stack and her husband Robert of Charlotte, NC; one son, John Collins of Charlotte, NC; step-children, Mandy Cooke and her husband Lanneau of Murrells Inlet, Kyle Suggs and his wife Corrie of Charlotte, NC; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Douglas was an accomplished Eagle Scout and later went on to become a sergeant in the United States Army. He received a civil engineering degree from NC State University.

He enjoyed spending his time with his family and had a love for the beach.  He also enjoyed entertaining his family with his long stories and corny jokes. His passion in life was painting. He was a member of the Waccamaw arts and Craft Guild for many years.

A celebration of Douglas life will be held 2:00pm Monday, July 15th, 2019 at Church of the Resurrection, 8901 Highway 17 Bypass South, Surfside Beach, SC 29575 with Father Ron Greiser officiating.
