Dennis Bernard Washko, 68, passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side on Sunday December 30, 2018 at his home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born on August 5, 1950 in Danville, Pennsylvania to the late Bernard John Washko & Marie Anne Kurland Washko.
Along with his parents, Dennis is preceded in passing by his brother, David Washko & his sister, Nancy Washko.
Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1970 until 1974. Upon his honorable discharge, Dennis went on to become the operations manager at Hawkins Chevrolet in Danville, PA. Following the families’ relocation to Myrtle Beach, Dennis owned and operated Scholtzky’s Deli. In his free time, Dennis coached Little League baseball, girls’ soccer & Senior Division Baseball. During his active years in the Danville Community, Dennis petitioned to build a new football field. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion and will be truly missed by all who had the honor of getting to know him through the years.
Left to cherish Dennis’ memory are his beloved wife, Linda Sue Washko of Myrtle Beach; their daughter, Bridget Washko also of Myrtle Beach; sons, Shane Washko and his wife, Jennifer of Myrtle Beach & Travis Washko and his wife, Nicole of Beijing, China; five grandchildren, Mckenzie, Tristan, Logan, Madison & Riley; sisters, Diane Wilds of Berwick, PA & Maria Carl and her husband, Greg of Danville, PA; as well as several nieces and nephews; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Dennis’ life will be held on Thursday January 3, 2019 at 2:00PM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 572 Cypress Ave. Garden City, SC 29576. Inurnment will follow immediately within the church columbarium where military honors will be accorded.
