Barry Maieritsch Obituary

Barry Edward Maieritsch, 53, was called to his final duty with his loving family by his side on Saturday August 10, 2019 at Embrace Hospice House of the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Barry proudly served our country in the United States Army for 30 years. Through hard work and sacrifice, Barry received the rank of Command Sgt. Major. While enlisted and stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, his first love and second home, Barry was the recipient of a multitude of medals and accolades. His most prized heading, however, has the title of husband and father. In his free time, Barry loved to play golf and watch sports. He was considered one of the Chicago Cub’s biggest fans.  He will be deeply missed for his encouraging demeanor, quick wit, love for his country and for the dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend that he truly was.

Left to cherish Barry’s memory are his beloved wife of 34 years, Mrs. Heidi (Wilhelm) Maieritsch of Conway; their children, Jessica Nicole (Shane) Taitt, Barry E. Maieritsch, Jr., Cory Dean (Danielle) Maieritsch, & Lena Ann Marie (Matt) Redinbo; his beloved grandchildren, Sarai, Jadon, Ava, Alena, Cameron, & Isaiah; as well as extended family, & supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Barry’s life will be held privately at a later date at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be considered in lieu of flowers and may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, at support.woundedwarriorproject.org
