Arthur Cross, Jr. Obituary

Arthur Isaac Cross, Jr., 85, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019, at Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach.  He was born August 24, 1934, in Waycross, GA, son of the late Arthur Isaac Cross, Sr., and Irene Snoots Cross.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mona Cross, and several beloved (and very spoiled) dogs and grand-dogs.

Art served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.  He attended The University of Florida (Go Gators!) on the GI Bill and received his Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering in 1960.  Art joined the DuPont Company in 1960 in Nashville, TN.  His 35 year career with DuPont included transfers to Circleville, OH, Wilmington, DE, and Geneva, Switzerland, where he assumed the position of Director - Employee Relations - Europe.

Upon retiring Art and Mona lived in Williamsburg, VA, Lewes, DE and Myrtle Beach, SC, where they made many friends and hosted numerous family gatherings.
Art and Mona traveled the world together, with repeat visits to Hawaii, Las Vegas and favorite cities in Europe.  In addition to traveling, Art enjoyed golfing with his sons-in-law, playing with his grandchildren, overfeeding his grand-dogs, and savoring a good martini.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Buck and her husband Eric of Tucson, AZ, and Shari Porter and her husband Jeff of Wilmington, NC; five grandchildren, Scott, David, Melissa, Brian and Holly; and three great-grandchildren, Ellie, Suvi and Aila.

A private family service will be held in Lewes, DE at a later date.
