Willivia "Ann" (Smith) Spangler

Willivia Ann Spangler Smith, 68, went to be the Lord on Sunday March 24, 2024 from her home in Socastee, South Carolina. She was born on February 1, 1956 in Conway, South Carolina to the late William Harry Smith, II & Olivia Ann Dusenbury Smith.

Along with her parents, Ann is reunited in passing with her beloved husband, Stuart Spangler and her affectionate dachshund, Lukey.

Ann was a hardworking woman with a heart of gold. She was passionate about helping those in need and her bright personality made it so she never met a stranger. Ann’s dedicated faith led her to Socastee United Methodist Church where she played the piano for Sunday services and for hundreds of others. When Ann wasn’t dedicating her time to the church, she could be found enjoying the simpler things in life. She enjoyed time spent with her family and making memories with friends. She loved animals and especially adored her Lukey- who was her constant companion. In her free time, Ann enjoyed cross-stitching, jigsaw puzzles, and watching Jeopardy & Downton Abbey. Above all else, Ann loved her family with her whole heart. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her quick wit, her bright smile, and the love she had for her family and church family.

Left to cherish Ann’s memory are her daughter, Patricia Ann Roberts and her husband, Jacob of Wellington, FL; sisters, Ronda Smith Joiner (Ken) & Beth Smith Tucker (Mike); brother, William Harry Smith, III, all of Socastee, SC; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many supportive friends and neighbors.

The family wishes to acknowledge with heartfelt appreciation the kindness, comfort and compassion shown to them during this difficult time. Special thanks to Pastor Meredith Dark and the staff at Socastee UMC for their continued prayers and support.

A Celebration of Ann’s life will be held on Holy Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 3:00PM at Socastee United Methodist Church, 5575 Dick Pond Rd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588. The family will gather to greet friends immediately following the service, within the church Fellowship Hall.
