Troy James Brown

Troy James Brown, 66, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 15, 2024 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Troy was born September 23, 1957 in Hampton, VA to Robert H. Brown, Jr and Harriett Maxwell Lee Brown, both deceased.

Troy graduated from East Gaston High School in 1975 and attended Belmont Abby College. Troy owned and operated several successful hair salons over the years. He relocated to Myrtle Beach in 2000 to pursue a career in real estate. He stepped away from real estate when he was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. He fought the disease with dignity and courage, always maintaining a “can do” attitude. Troy spoke often of the time he and his family lived in Germany while his father served in the military. He loved to travel, enjoyed history and never met a stranger. He was known for rescuing animals and always fought hard for the underdog.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 11AM at Faith Baptist Church, 5194 Old Plank Road, Iron Station, NC 28080. The service will be held in Faith Fellowship Hall.

Troy is survived by his two sisters, Robbie Jean Burgin (Michael) of Alexis and Cindy Ballard (Guy) of Iron Station, his best friend and caregiver, Guy Austin and canine companion Bella Rose and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thanks to his neighbors Steve and Michelle LeBlanc and Cheryl Winters for their sincere dedication and help when needed.
