Marian Lane Obituary

Marian Craig Lane, 86, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Wednesday March 20, 2024 at The Legacy Assisted Living Facility in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was born on September 21, 1937 in Richwood, West Virginia to the late Oscar Lee Faulkner, Sr. & Ora Shaffer Faulkner.

Along with her parents, Marian is reunited in passing with her son, James Allen Craig, Jr.; brothers, Clayton Faulkner, Oscar "Lee" Faulkner, Glenzel Faulkner & Edgel Faulkner; her sister Rita Preston, and her twin sister Helen Sohmer, as well as her dear niece (or fourth sister) Janet Bevier.

Marian was a hardworking woman with a heart of gold. She worked for the Federal Government for many years, including her last stint as an administrative professional to the late Secretary of Commerce Malcolm Baldridge. Following her well-deserved retirement, Marian pursued several volunteer opportunities, including her work at a women’s shelter. She loved the outdoors, and spent time camping, boating, fishing, and enjoying the beach. She was an avid reader, loved her Sudoku puzzles, Bingo, playing cards and board games. Marian enjoyed quilting, DIY crafts, and had a keen eye for interior design. She was an excellent cook, often commended for her creativity in the kitchen. Above all else, Marian loved her family with her whole heart. She will forever be remembered for her quick wit, vibrant personality, and nurturing soul.

Left to cherish Marian’s memory are her adoring children, Judy Plummer of Myrtle Beach, SC, Daniel Craig of Mary Esther, FL, and Edward Craig and his wife, Suzanne of Nokesville, VA; grandchildren, Megan Trowbridge, Samuel Plummer (Erica), Sarah MacLean (Mike), Brenda Craig Smith (Joey), Jessica Craig Ngaya (Ray) & Daniel Craig, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Kane, Jamie, Brooke, Jaxon, Kaylin, Aubrey, Penny, Gavin, Kadin, Railyn & McKenna "Kenna"; sister in-law, Wilma Faulkner; close friend, Zelda Artz; the Lane family; as well as many special nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

The family would also like to say a special thank you to the Memory Care staff at The Legacy of North Myrtle Beach, and Amedisys Hospice.

A private celebration of Marian’s life will be held at a later date.
