Lynda Gaile Ardis Ballenger, 73, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Lynda was born on September 21, 1950, in Sumter, South Carolina, to the late Carolyn Weldon Ardis and the late Abram LeGrande “AL” Ardis. She was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, and grandmother who loved to laugh and delight in her family. Her most cherished name of all was to be called “GG” by her grandchildren.
She leaves behind many wonderful memories shared with her husband of 51 years, John Ballenger, and two sons, Matthew (Lindsey) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Chris (Amy) of Wesley Chapel, Florida, and six grandchildren: Hunter, Ella, Alex, Elizabeth, Sloane, and Seryn.
Lynda was an avid reader and gifted artist with a deep appreciation for education. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Art History and spent her early career in adult education in West Columbia, SC. She transitioned to early education upon moving to Houston, Texas, in 1998 and continued working with preschoolers until her retirement. Lynda moved back to Lexington, SC, in 2005 and remained there until relocating to Murrells Inlet in 2016 to spend more time by the beach. Lynda was a brave cancer survivor who met each new health challenge with grace and courage. Recently, Lynda began painting again, which she used to spread joy to others.
